Satur has displayed magnificent valor in the face of constant political persecution since he became an activist-journalist in the 1960s. Through the decades, his fight for freedom and justice led him to arbitrary arrests, severe torture and nine years of imprisonment.

As a key opposition figure, Ocampo has withstood the government's sustained brutal political repression against him and his party. These attacks only strengthened Satur’s militancy both in the halls of parliament and in the streets.
